The marriages started at dawn on Saturday and continued until midnight in Las Vegas, the capital of gambling and express weddings, which on the 7th day of the 7th month of 2007 experienced a historic journey with over 3,000 promises of eternal love.
“It’s a historic day for Las Vegas”, David Foote, owner of a chapel in Las Vegas, said. “If you are one of those who waited in line on Friday to get the authorization to get married, then congratulations, because that meant four and a half hours of waiting”, he told the future husband and wife.
Hundreds of people, seduced by the superstitions that surround number 7, waited in line on Friday in the mayoralty of Las Vegas to obtain an official permission that allowed them to celebrate their wedding on Saturday. About 3,000 couples joined together in marriage in the Sin City of Nevada.
Only in one chapel there were 115 weddings on Saturday, double the usual number. “We had to reject about 100 weddings, because we wanted to work properly”, Foote added. “I think Las Vegas is an extraordinary place to get married if you choose a serious place. There are low prices, excellent hotels, restaurants and shops, and it’s easy to get an authorization to get married”, he said.
